Description

Crossle 14F chassis number 69.42, eligible for HSCC Historic Formula 2, hill climbing, track days or sprinting. Built in 1969 by Crossle in the Northern Ireland factory and subsequently raced in period by Crossle engineer Steve Patton. Restored and raced in the early 90’s by Bill Gowdy (a good friend of Crossle’s Arnie Black). Exported to Tom Claridge in California in 1996. Renowned racer Claridge achieved many wins and podiums at Sears Point Raceway, Thunderhill and Road America. Then sold onto Patrick Donnelly in the USA and ultimately repatriated to the UK by John Hutchinson in 2005. Ground-up rebuild in 2012 by John’s son who also raced the car in the HSCC Classic Racing Cars Championship all over the UK and Europe. Set up sheets, race results photographs are included in the car’s comprehensive history file. Featured in the Alan Tyndall books, “Hidden Glory”, the story of the Crossle Car Company" and “30 years of Winning”. Beautifully prepared with a 182 BHP Craig Beck Lotus 1600cc Twincam, Hewland Mk 9 5-speed gearbox recently rebuilt by Tony Wilson, fully restored in winter 2017 and just four races since then. Current FIA HTP valid until December 2025.
